  • What is the 48-Hour Film Challenge?
    • The 48-Hour Film Challenge is an intense and exciting weekend where filmmaking teams have just 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short film from scratch. It's a creative sprint – no prep work allowed!
  • When and where is it happening?

  • Who can participate?
    • This is a professional film challenge
  • How many people can be on a team?
    • Teams can range from solo filmmakers to groups of up to 10 people. Bigger teams are welcome but may need to self-organise more carefully!
  • Do we bring our own equipment?
    • Yes – teams are responsible for all their own gear (cameras, microphones, laptops, etc.). We do not provide production equipment.
  • What’s provided at the kickoff?
    • Your film genre, drawn at random A line of dialogue, prop, and character name that must appear in the film Submission guidelines and file format info
  • How long should the final film be?
    • Films must be no more than 5 minutes, including credits.
  • Can we prepare anything in advance?
    • Nope! All writing, shooting, and editing must take place within the 48-hour window. You can bring your own actors, props, and gear – but no pre-written scripts or pre-recorded footage allowed.
  • How do we submit our film?
    • By 5PM Sunday, you must upload your film to the platform we’ll announce at the kickoff, or submit it in person via USB stick. Late entries may still be screened but will be ineligible for awards.
  • Will the films be shown?
    • Yes! There will be a public screening and awards night on the Sunday. It’s a great chance to celebrate the work and creativity of all the teams.
